I started a blog because I thought it was convenient to have a site on-line with articles and other stuff that could be linked to. When I wanted to share a recipe with my friends, or was engaged in some debate on a (religious) discussion board I thought it was handy to have articles on the hand written by myself about returning topics. This way I didn’t need to explain my point of view over and over again. The main reasons for having it are also pragmatic. It’s also the main reason why this isn’t a themed weblog, I just write an article because I need one or I feel the need to explain my point of view on certain topics. Sometimes others ask my point of view.

Part of my weblog is a journal of personal experiences. When my friends moved away and start living all over the place I felt that a weblog was easier to keep other up-to-date on my whereabouts than writing the same e-mail to a dozen people or telling the same story over and over again to all my friends on the phone.

There are several main sections on this site, each one has it’s own tab (in the green at the top of each screen). I will summarize their contents here and give a quick link to it. First of all the Home tab leads to my blog ‘as-is’, to all my posts in an unfiltered way.

Second, there’s a Health tab that contains my thoughts on health related topics. It’s a general health section but due to my scientific background (I studied psychology at the local university) a lot of the topics cover the field of mental health and the field of neurophysiology.

Third, you’ll see a there is a tab to a large ‘Philosophy‘ section. (I’m still in the process of converting stuff to html, so that one is ‘work in progress’.  Since I tend to mix philosophy and theology often (I see theology as a specialisation in the wider domain of philosophy), all theology related topics are found here. There isn’t much yet as most of it needs to be translated from Dutch to English and needs to be gathered from different places from the web. But it will appear sooner or later.

The fourth tab is called ‘Faith‘. This may sound somewhat confusing since there’s also a philosophy section that deals with theology issues. The reason why I make a difference is because I feel it’s perfectly possible to be a practising Christian without any knowledge of theology. Or to be a theologian without being a Christian. This section contains Bible Studies, reviews of Christian books and the like. So that has nothing to do with theology and apologetics.

The fifth tab is the most popular one: it has all the Recipes I put up for friends, but others seem to like them too. No further explanation needed.

The sixth is called Reviews and covers the rest of my stuff: book reviews because I love to read literature and fiction, and reviews of television series and films.

Since seven is the number of wholeness there is a seventh tab called About Me. You happen to be there right now. :)
