Fortunately I’m able to talk a lot with people of my own age about my and their faith. I’m in a very active parish, where people are quite involved. Our priest organizes a lot of activities where we are able to share the spiritual side of our faith.

So, I’m fully aware I’m in a very special situation where I can choose daily to go to our priest’s noon Mass or early in the morning to a Mass celebrated by our Bishop. And like I said there’s weekly Adoration and lot’s of Masses in the weekend to choose from (from English Mass ranging to a special Student Mass on Sunday Evening).

@Michelle, I will pray for your intentions in front of the Blessed Sacrament tomorrow, because you cannot spend as much time close to our dear Lord as you’d like to. :rosary:

My church doesn't have Weekly Adoration unfortunately, despite it being a large parish, but we do have a Nocturnal Adoration on the first Friday of each month; while I try to make it, it's a hit-or-miss situation, but I'll be going to the Nocturnal Adoration for December. I also plan on hitting Confession, which is something I've gotten lax in.

I realize, quite honestly, that I have let my spiritual life dwindle, and now I'm in trouble because of it - I'm having serious doubts. So I'm using this month to get back closer to the church, to attend my church's Advent Activities whenever possible. I'll be able to get to Daily Mass again a few days a week and praying a rosary daily.

Do you get to talk to people, actually talk, about your faith? I wish I did.

And you have a blessed day too, Inge! Here in Florida it is quite cold at 41 degrees F. But it warms up to 60 by the afternoon. This is not normal weather for us as it is usually about 70 or even 80 degrees at this time of the year. Tourists come from all over the world to visit Disney and also to swim at beaches. I feel sorry for them.
St. Cecilia is one of my favorites. As you know she is patron saint of musicians and is usually pictured holding a musical instrument. I have posted her Traditional Mass propers @ http://tridentine-mass.blogspot.com/ on my blog.
Bye!

Hey, I can relate to the poor shopping! I had three dollars in my pocket, the last until our Social Security gets here, and went to the cheapest store I know to but some bread, a couple of bananas, 2 tiny pies (2 for 88 cents) and a sleeve of pepperoni for a sandwich later. I just made it. Oh, I had to pay 11 cents for the plastic bag to carry it all in. Tomorrow will be better as there will be some extra money in checking account and I have to take my wife to the doctors for her Procrit shot and 3 month physical. We went for blood tests last week so the will tell us how she is doing.
Yes it is rare to find an understanding protestant minister as most of them don't understand the beauty and depth of being a Catholic, especially the Eucharist, which sustains me every day! When I can't get to Mass I always say a spiritual Communion so that the Lord enters my heart and hopefully stays there.
Keep up the good work. I hope you get your bike fixed. Blessings+ :pope:

I remember as a kid in 3rd grade (near Chicago) in the middle 1950's that we sang a song about St. Nicholas. It went something like this:

Oh look there's the steamer arriving Spain,
It bring us Saint Nicholas he still looks the same.

I forgot the next part but it was something about his eyes and his nose.

I understand that there is a song for children in the Netherlands that is just like this.

Maybe someone can shed a little light on this topic.

The Roman Catholic Church doesn't collect tithes. Everyone gives what he can, voluntarily. Since the earliest Christians didn't tithe, or used the rules of the OT on tithing, neither do we now. Tithing is a Jewish thing, not a Christian thing.
